What is a Spiral Stair?

Technically: Spiral Stairs are generally constructed with a fixed center pole which serves as either the primary or the only means of support from which pie-shaped treads radiate to form a winding stairway.

Standard Custom Spiral Stair Qualities:

  - Factory fitted stackable hubs to give a solid continuous look.
  - Balusters are ¾" diameter solid (5 lbs. each) custom made and factory fitted.
  - Factory formed custom handrail fitted with tapped holes for final field assembly with ¼-20 machine screws.
  - Several choices of Tread Designs, Railing Designs and even Balusters.
  - Mechanically Assembled, No Field Welding Required.
  - All metal thickness' are a minimum of 7 gage.

Basically: A stairway that revolves or rotates around a center pole to reach a specific height in which to save room that a straight stair would take up normally.

What is a Circular Stair Case?

Technically: A Circular stairway consists of a series of tapered treads that form a stairway with a circular configuration.

Basically: A Circular stair is a large Main Stairway curving to meet the upper floor or floors. Geometry can be one constant radius or multiple radii curves for an elliptical configuration.

What is a Spiral Adjustable Kit Stair?

Technically: A Kit Stair is exactly the same definition as our custom Spiral Stairs. Adjustable Spiral Kit stairs are specifically made from any height up to 11' - 10 ½". We have standard parts that are sold in each Kit stair and are used in generally every situation.

Standard Kit qualities:
  - Balusters ¾" Square tubes (2 lbs each)
  - Intermediate balusters are field cut.
  - Holes are field drilled in tread for fastening.
  - Aluminum handrail furnished in coil, field form to fit.
  - Hubs do not stack (adjustable).
  - Metal thickness is 12 gage.

Basically: A stairway that revolves around a center pole to reach a specific height in which to save room that a straight stair would take up. Kit stairs do not come with the special design qualities that our custom spiral stairs do.
